It is important to check your credit report a few months after you receive your discharge for any discrepancies which may exist on your report. The best way to address any discrepancies is by writing directly to the credit reporting agency which is reporting the discrepancy, and keeping a record of all of your correspondences. Although it will not likely show your credit score, under the Fair and Accurate Transaction Act, all consumers also are eligible to obtain one statutory free credit file disclosure from each of the national credit reporting companies every 12 months.
